I am obsessed with vegan lip balm. Always have been. I’m kind of like a lip balm connoisseur. While I have no official qualifications, I consider myself to be a true lover of all things Chapstick-like. Lip balm to me is what I’d imagine wine might be to a sommelier. You might remember my blog post from last year called Battle of the Balms: A Vegan Lip Balm Smackdown which covered all my favorite balms. Since that post, I was introduced to another (new to me) plant based, cruelty free and animal free lip balm called EPIC Blend. This company is based out of Canada so that’s likely why I had never heard of it before. While they have ten lip balms only two of them are fully vegan, the Wild Berry and Pineapple Mint. Epic Blend was kind enough to send me samples of their balms to try and I really like them, especially the Wild Berry flavor.
After a little bit of research, I found out that Epic Blend started in 2007 and is a totally gluten free, all natural, non-GMO, animal testing free company that takes pride in their clean ingredients. If you know me then you know I am all about clean ingredients! The lip balms are paraben free as well as free of synthetic preservatives. The vegan line is of course beeswax free, instead they use food grade candelilla wax which provides a super smooth texture and glide. The balms are also made up of a blend of coconut oil, sunflower oil, cocoa butter and vitamin E.
What’s my honest opinion about the balms? Seeing as though I am a lip balm fiend, I have to say that I am a wee bit picky about in the least about my chosen lip balms. While I didn’t really care for the Pineapple Mint flavor, I did really enjoy the Wild Berry. The formulas are not too greasy, not waxy yet have a nice shine to them and are super moisturizing.
Because Epic Blend is out of British Columbia, their lip balms are primarily available in retailers across Canada. They are however available online on their website. It is a challenge to find a lip balm free of both petroleum products and bee’s wax that really moisturizes. Friends have made suggestions, including my Mom, but the options have failed in one respect or another, most often due to ingredients. I am a lip balm junky. So the first tube would go to me, the second to my Mom who just bought me some balm with bee’s wax. She tries so hard, she really does.

These sound divine – I love keeping my beauty products as natural as possible, without any nasty chemicals in them and I use organic or vegan whenever I can…So these beauties I’m keen to try. I’d love to try EPIC lip balm! As a strict & happy vegan (with 7 animals & a vegan man) I only buy vegan lip balm. I’d keep some for myself & share some with my man & my 70 yr. old vegan mother!

I live in a dry climate, so I’m a lip balm addict. I’m definitely all for new cruelty free brands. The pineapple mint sounds right up my alley. I would love to share it with my family to show that vegan products can be great.
