Product Review: EatPastry Vegan Cookie Dough

Let’s take a trip down memory lane for a moment. When you think of your childhood what tastes and smells come to mind? For me, because I grew up in a rural part of Northern California on a five acre farm, the smells of the outdoors flood my mind first — alfalfa hay, wet dirt after a hard rain, and the smell of sawdusty horse stalls. But perhaps one of my favorite smells of all time comes from the inside the house, the kitchen to be exact. The smell and taste of chocolate chip cookies. I can still remember sitting on our blue tiled countertop as a tiny buckaroo helping my mom and sister make cookies. Picking out the ingredients from the cupboard, measuring out just the right amounts, and stirring in the ingredients one by one into our big orange 1970’s plastic Tupperware bowl are some of my fondest memories of being a child. That, and licking the bowl afterwards of course.

It was no wonder that when I took my very first bite of EatPastry Chocolate Chip Cookie dough that I was immediately transported back into my childhood. If childhood could have a taste, EatPastry would be it. Who knew that a little 14 ounce tub of vegan cookie dough would not only steal my heart, but take me back in time. I bet it can do the same for you.

If you’re anything like me, you may prefer eating cookie dough rather than actually baking and then eating the cookies. If that’s the case, Eatpastry is perfect for you! It’s pre-made, scoopable, portable and ready to eat as is. And, there’s no worrying about salmonella because there are NO eggs! All EatPastry cookie doughs are totally egg free, dairy free, MSG free and cholesterol free. There are no artificial flavors and no hydrogenated oils. Three of their flavors are gluten free as well! For some of you I know the word ‘vegan’ alone might scare you to the point of not even wanting to try it. But I attest, I was not eating vegan cookie dough in my childhood and this dough tastes exactly like it. In fact, this is likely much better for you than the cookie ingredients we are so used to consuming!

What flavors does Eatpastry offer? There are seven delicious premade cookie dough flavors. I sampled three of them:

I not so secretly have to admit that I didn’t actually make cookies with the three tubs of dough that I sampled. Who needs cookies when there’s cookie dough? I mean really. I do, however, know for a fact these tubs make awesome cookies! And this cookie dough isn’t just for making cookies anymore! Oh no. Use the dough to top off your favorite vegan ice cream, add it to your muffin mix or heck, use it as the crust for a pie! Whatever suits your fancy, EatPastry is versatile and delicious! What’s not to love? Tune into EatPastry’s Facebook page for creative recipes on how to use the dough in new and exciting ways.

I bet you’re wondering where can you find these decadently delicious tubs? EVen though EatPastry is made in sunny San Diego, California in an exclusively dedicated vegan kitchen, it is available across the country. Check their where to buy list before you head out which I encourage you to do RIGHT now! In fact, don’t walk, run to your local grocery store. EatPastry cookie dough is seriously one of the most tasty things that has ever tantalized my cowgirl taste buds. Go get it. Yeehaw!

    1. Definitely dangerous! A couple of my friends refer to EatPastry as crack. We all joke that we need to enter rehab from it! It’s sooooo good!

  1. I tried the Gluten Free Chocolate Chip flavor and thought it tasted overwhelmingly like “fake food” and oils – the flavor of olive oil was especially overwhelming. That went away after the cookies were baked. Whole Foods had regular (eggs, butter, etc) cookie dough that looked delicious, but it was $10 for a package, which is why I opted for this one – I thought the fact that it was gluten free was a nice touch.

Maybe the gluten containing varieties are better? Regardless, this just reminds me never to buy anything that has “Earth Balance” as an ingredient. Yuck!

    1. Coco, I agree that the taste of the raw Gluten Free Chocolate Chip flavor is less than tasty, but I strongly believe it has nothing to do with Earth Balance, but a lot to do with the fact that chickpea flour is used. I can attest that all the other flavors are completely delicious when eaten straight out of the container!

  2. Here’s the deal:tthe Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip tastes like chocolate chip. I don’t taste peanut butter. I add additional chocolate chips. I’m addicted!!!! I have yet to bake it. I spoon it from the container. I need an intervention!!!

    1. I don’t think I have tried the Peanut Butter yet. I too am addicted! Let’s just say that I have never once baked cookies as I too just spoon it up from the pint straight into my mouth. Yummy yeehaw!
